Professor Timothy Green is known for his pioneering contribution in establishing the role of power electronics in future electricity transmission and distribution networks, creating additional control and optimisation functions as part of a smart grid.

In particular, he has identified where the flexibility of power electronics adds significant value to a network and has mitigated the relatively large footprint, power losses and complex dynamics of the associated hardware.
