Professor Richard Yemm is an innovative mechanical engineer with an outstanding combination of technical, leadership and commercial skills. He is chiefly known for his invention of the Pelamis Wave Energy Converter, and its development over 15 years through to the successful deployment of six machines at sea in Portugal and the UK. Despite its ultimate commercial demise, Pelamis set or broke all records in this field, and revolutionised the world of offshore wave energy.

His achievements have been widely recognised by several prestigious awards, and he is also a prominent figure on the UK’s renewable energy trade associations and committees.
