Professor Rachel Thomson is a gifted materials engineer whose pioneering experimental and modelling innovations have enabled industry to improve the efficiency, lifetime and environmental performance of power generation components. As dean of a major engineering school, she initiated many transformational projects, including leadership of a new and innovative multidisciplinary STEMLab to transform the academic experience of engineering students.
She is an inspiring teacher, a passionate advocate for early-career researchers and an accomplished leader of large research consortia.
