Professor Marco Viceconti is an internationally respected orthopaedic bioengineer, with extensive clinical and industrial experience in the development and assessment of engineered orthopaedic devices. He is a world expert in the biomechanics of total hip replacements.

In the last 15 years, Professor Viceconti pioneered the use of subject-specific computer modelling and simulation to support medical decisions on diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system. Through his vision and leadership, he has established the Insigneo Institute for In Silico Medicine, the largest institute dedicated to this topic in Europe.
