Professor Ji Zhou FREng

Honorary Chairman, Governing Board of Chinese Academy of Engineering

As one of the top mechanical engineers in China, Professor Ji Zhou has made major contributions to computer-aided design, numerical control and advanced manufacturing. He has championed the commercialisation of new technologies and has been a leading advocate of the ‘Optics Valley’ in Wuhan, an important base of the optoelectronics industry.

As President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), he has built and championed a strong relationship with the Academy, which is now the CAE’s most significant overseas partner.

He has worked hard to build links between China and the UK engineering community, and to allow both sectors to share expertise and build cooperation on innovation, emerging technologies, global challenges and academia-industry collaboration.
