Professor Frances Arnold is an internationally renowned, pioneering chemical engineer. Her breakthrough research into protein engineering by directed evolution has been taken up and applied in academic and industrial laboratories worldwide to create protein catalysts.

These catalysts have wide application in energy, chemical engineering and medicine. She received the 2016 Millennium Technology Prize in recognition of her work.
