Fawaz Bitar, BP’s Head of Global Operations Organization, Upstream, led the transformation of process safety and plant reliability performance through rigorous application of engineering practices and systematic operations. The organisation has since achieved industry-leading performance in both measures. As Project Director for Tangguh LNG plant in Papua, Indonesia, he was accountable for the construction, commissioning and start-up of a large-scale plant in a remote, socially and environmentally sensitive area. It is now one of BP’s most successful operations. 

Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to the development of engineers through implementation of nationalisation plans, commitment to education by mentoring and executive sponsorship of engineers both internally and externally.
