Alasdair Stirling is a naval architect outstanding for his leadership and contributions to the design, engineering and management of major warship projects. He demonstrated engineering excellence in a range of technical projects for the Royal Navy and abroad before successfully project managing recovery of the Astute class nuclear submarine design and build programme. He later had personal responsibility for the design, safety and availability of all Royal Navy nuclear submarines in service, including the submarine rescue service.
Alasdair Stirling then directed the design and development of the new Dreadnought class of nuclear ballistic missile submarines, achieving start of construction. In late 2017, he became Engineering Services Director, Naval Marine, at Babcock International Group. He was head of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructers between 2015 and 2017.
