Professor Spencer Sherwin is recognised for the developing the highly accurate ‘hp’ spectral element method, Nektar, for computational fluid mechanics and its application to a wide range of engineering and physiological flows.

His work has led to significant increase in the understanding of the flow physics governing instability of separated flows.
