Professor Sir Martyn Poliakoff CBE FREng FRS
Research Professor in Chemistry, University of Nottingham
Professor Sir Martyn Poliakoff is distinguished for his pioneering application of supercritical fluids (gases compressed until they are nearly as liquids) as solvents for cleaner chemical reactions. His work combines engineering and chemistry in a highly imaginative way, exploiting the advantages that these fluids can bring to chemical processes.
He has collaborated extensively with industry and his work is recognised internationally. He is a UK champion for wider collaboration between chemists and engineers.
He has a worldwide reputation for public engagement, especially inspiring younger generations by promoting chemical sciences via highly acclaimed videos on YouTube.
