Professor Simon Pollard FREng

Professor Simon Pollard is an outstanding environmental engineer who has made a significant impact on engineering practice in the areas of risk management and regulatory policy. As an international authority in engineering risk, he has built a distinguished career through appointments in engineering consultancy, risk analysis within government, and academia.
Latterly, he developed Cranfield University’s environmental technology capability into a prestigious international force, with strengths in environmental engineering, policy analysis and energy technology.
He is editor of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ series on sustainable engineering, and his research has been funded by the US Water Research Foundation, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
