Keith Howells joined the Mott MacDonald Group from university, and has built experience in the planning and design of hydraulic structures, irrigation, flood alleviation, hydropower, urban drainage, sewerage, water supply and river engineering projects.
He led major projects, many funded by the World Bank, the EU or Department for International Development, in countries including Nigeria, Iraq, Kenya, Pakistan, Nepal, Hong Kong, China and India, as well as in the UK, before taking on broader managerial responsibilities.
He ran the firm’s water and environment business from 1997 to 2002, before becoming the Group Managing Director in 2004, directing the firm’s expansion in North America, Africa, Australasia and South America. He was made Group Chairman in 2011.
He was chair of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering in 2013, is a member of the CBI’s Construction Council and its London Regional Council, and is a member of the Cranfield School of Management Advisory Board.
