Dr Ian Ritchey FREng
Group Chief Engineer, Rolls-Royce plc
Ian Ritchey was appointed Group Chief Engineer at Rolls-Royce plc in April 2017, leading the global engineering function across the Company’s five businesses. He has extremely broad engineering experience in industrial sectors including power generation, marine and aerospace, plus a short period in academia as Professor of Engineering Design at Newcastle University.
His engineering activities with Rolls-Royce have covered the full product lifecycle, including technology demonstration, successful delivery of new products into service, and resolution of major in-service issues.
Significant highlights include the entries into service of podded propulsors on the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship, the TP400 turboprop engine on the A400M military transport and the LiftSystem on the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter (a finalist for the 2014 MacRobert Award).
