Professor Graham Reed FREng

Professor of Silicon Photonics, University of Southampton

Professor Graham Reed has carried out award-winning work in silicon photonics for more than 25 years, and is acknowledged as one of the pioneers of the field. His work has been widely adopted by industry, and he has received worldwide acclaim for technical contributions and international leadership roles.

He is particularly well-known for work on silicon optical modulators, publishing the first design of a depletion modulator, now an industry standard, as well as landmark high-speed modulators.

He has filed 14 patents and published more than 350 papers in the field, and has industrial collaborators around the world.
