Eric Hawthorn has made many major contributions to radio frequency (rf) electronics for global mobile wireless communications systems throughout his distinguished career. His first success was leading the Canadian team at Northern Telecom to develop the rf hardware for the world’s first digital cellular radio system, which incorporated large-scale deployment of digitally modulated linear power amplifiers.

In 2007, he founded Radio Design Ltd, which has become a world leader in the design and manufacture of filter combiner systems and multiband tower mounted amplifiers, to support the rapid and cost effective deployment of today’s high-capacity digital mobile systems.
