This internship scheme follows a five-stage process:

  1. Call for applications for researchers to host an intern
  2. Host organisation advertising and call for student internship applications
  3. Selection of successful student internship applications
  4. Matching of hosts and successful interns (interviews)
  5. Contracting

Application Guidance

Please download the Application Guidance Notes (to the right of the screen) for detailed instructions on how to apply.

Student applications will be submitted via the grants management system (GMS) and will be reviewed by Research awardees, then ranked by the Internship Scheme panel that includes an Academy Fellow.

  2. Read the Applicant Guidance notes below these are necessary to complete your online application

Access mentoring

The Academy aims to provide additional support to applicants from groups that are persistently underrepresented within UK engineering through the grant application process. This positive action will contribute to improving diversity in the talent pipeline and widening the diversity of applicants and awardees within the Academy’s research grant schemes.
