Research Fellowships 2022
Dr Deakin aims to explore development of new technologies to enable net zero power and energy systems. There are many innovative technologies have been proposed to integrate renewables and support a resilient grid, but they have high costs and can be underutilised. Dr Deakin’s research explores hybrid technologies, particularly power electronics-based solutions and demand-side flexibility, which combine controllable smart technologies with traditional low cost, rugged power system assets. His research is developing new techniques and designs to maximise the utilisation of these within the whole system, enabling system operators to plan and operate a resilient and efficient net zero grid.
