Visiting Professor
Professor Joe Steensma’s expertise lies in business development, environmental science and teaching. He has more than 25 years of experience in transforming organisations by improving operations whilst reducing their carbon footprint. An entrepreneur and social researcher, he is also a Professor of Practice at Washington University in St. Louis. Professor Steensma believes that developing problem solving skills should be a key focus when it comes to preparing students for the workplace. An important component is understanding the potential social and environmental impact of a solution, as well as the various forms of capital its development would require – financial, intellectual, infrastructural, etc. – and where to obtain these. Professor Steensma will work with TEDI-London staff and students to instil a spirit of entrepreneurship. He will leverage the expertise of TEDI-London, Canada Water, and his own extensive network to create opportunities for the TEDI-London community to learn from best practices in entrepreneurship education. Professor Steensma will focus on creating a supportive environment for entrepreneurship, encouraging the development of innovative start-up ideas that address social and environmental challenges.
