Visiting Professor
Ben is Principal Engineer at Dyson within the Environmental Care category. He specialises in the extraction of intellectual property to create patents from our inventions. He has patents in materials, filtration and product design. He is a Fellow and Chartered Engineer of the IMechE and have been at Dyson since 2012; previously leading the filtration research team. He partakes in a lot of additional activities - He is a Mental Health first aider, Judge for James Dyson Design award, Judge for Dyson Cambridge University Engineering bursaries, and has promoted STEM for the James Dyson Foundation at Royal Internal Air tattoo, Cheltenham science festival as well as multiple universities. Before Dyson, Ben designed and built the production line for the UK MOD, General Service Respirator, to protect our armed forces against CBRN, (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) threats. Ben has a Master’s degree in engineering from Durham University and lived in a castle while studying. Through the visiting professors program he hopes to impart his experiences to the students especially around employability and promote an engineering career.
