Visiting Professor
Dr Heriberto (Heri) Bustamante has been an active industrial scientist and engineer for over 30 years since he graduated with his PhD from Imperial College, London. He has worked at the Australian CSIRO; BP Research Centre (England); and Sydney Water (Australia) where since 1996 he has been active in conducting, developing and managing industrial research projects. In his current position, he is active to identify knowledge gaps in Sydney Water operations and convert them into projects that will deliver implementable innovation and to identify collaborators and in so doing has set up projects with local and overseas universities in work that has been award winning. His aim is to ensure that Sydney Water gets value for its investment by developing innovation that can be used to improve its operations, where the interaction with academia has given him the ability to guide from the industry viewpoint. As result, both industry benefits by the creation of new knowledge and the academic researchers increase the impact of their research.
