Visiting Professor
Per is a Norwegian Glaswegian with over 25 years of experience in the software industry, including fifteen years as a software engineering lead and agile coach. Most of his career has been spent helping cross-functional software teams work better together by re-thinking the practice of software engineering as a team sport. As Senior Director of Developer Platforms and Programs for Education at GitHub, Per’s team works with students and educators worldwide to help onboard more learners to the world of collaborative software development. GitHub Education provides products and programs for students and educators around the globe, helping them learn and teach computer science in a collaborative, online environment. As Visiting Professor at the University of Glasgow, Per works with the School of Computing Science to develop new courses covering the leadership and mentoring skills needed to foster good team habits in software engineering teams, and the contemporary skills, tools, and mind-sets required by individual engineers to work on large-scale, long-lived software systems.
