Dr Anthony James C. Bautista is a faculty researcher at the University of Santo Tomas, focused on Agricultural Robotics, Precision Farming, and the development of Service Robots. His projects include the development of a GPS-guided Autonomous Hand Tractor and an unmanned Aerial Vehicle deployment system for water quality monitoring. Dr Bautista is a recipient of the J. Amado Araneta Foundation Living Heroes for Technology and Gregorio Y. Zara Awards for Applied Research.
AGROTIS is a system that converts commercially available tractors to be fully autonomous or guided by RTK-GPS to navigate up and down the field while performing agricultural tasks, such as ploughing, rotavating and tilling so that the farmers will no longer have to guide these machines manually. The system can also be used to control multiple hand tractors simultaneously by one farmer. AGROTIS offers an innovative solution to labour-intensive farming, delivering increased productivity, reduced labour costs, and improved yields
