The medal is awarded biennially to an engineer of any nationality who has made an exceptional contribution to engineering as a whole through practice, management or education.
The recipient of the Prince Philip Medal will be selected by the Royal Academy of Engineering's Awards Committee. The Award will consist of a medal and will normally be awarded biennially. The Medal will not be awarded if in any year the Academy so decides.
Self-nominations are not accepted. Nominations must include the following information:
- Details of the nominee.
- Citation of not more than 500 words describing the nominee's achievements.
- CV of no more than two pages should be attached, relevant to the award.
- Nominees must provide letters of support from two referees. To ensure an impartial perspective, at least one referee must be from outside of the Nominee's organisation. The Nominator is ineligible to be a referee. Each reference should be:
- Evidence-based, with specific examples of the nominee's achievements and influence.
- Objective, providing an unbiased evaluation of the nominee's qualifications, work, and contributions to the area.
- Authored by an individual with relevant experience and a thorough understanding of the Nominee's work and field of expertise.
Nominations must arrive no later than 5pm on Wednesday 25 October 2023. Only completed nominations will be considered. Please ensure that the nomination form is complete with CV and letters of support at the time of submission.
Each nominator can submit up to three nominations in one year for each Award.
