These events pose a very real threat to the viability of over 300 of our most innovative companies, which together account for over 15,000 jobs, and, in turn, to the UK’s ambition to be a science and technology superpower.
We are encouraged to see the government is working ‘at pace on a solution to avoid or minimise damage to some of our most promising companies in the UK’. It is vital that the government takes swift action to enable those affected to not only meet their immediate financial commitments but also access significant funds beyond the amount protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. As the National Academy for engineering and technology, we are committed to working with government and the wider community to ensure that the UK can continue to be a great location to start and grow innovative, hi-tech companies.
