Isabel Pulido (Colombia) - NanoFreeze
NanoFreeze have created a new method for natural refrigeration using novel bio-nanotechnology that reduces energy consumption by 50%, reducing the carbon footprint on the refrigeration industry.
NanoFreeze's bio-nanotechnology is manufactured through the process of functionalising proteins into different nanometric particles. Because of this, it is possible to freeze water above 2ºC, while simultaneously doubling the heat capacity of the water to create a product able to control its temperature from 2ºC to only 8ºC across 200 hours. Based on this technology, NanoFreeze has created a cold chain product suite of Ice Packs, Coolers, Cold Coats and Energy Savings Panels for commercial refrigerators:
- Cold Chain Products (including Ice Packs, Cold Coats and Coolers): Designed to preserve the cold chain during long periods without energy use, the Cold Coats and Ice Packs are able to maintain their cold temperature for up to 200 hours without any energy input.
- Panels: Reducing energy consumption by 50% on refrigerators, small cold rooms, and shipping containers in order to reduce energy costs and the quantity of CO2 emissions. The NanoFreeze Panels are a retrofit solution, with a modular design that can be adapted to various refrigerators and/or indoor spaces.
