Bio: Dr Marlene Kanga, AO FTSE FAA FREng, is one of Australia’s leading engineers and an international fellow based in Sydney. She has been a board member of Innovation Australia, which leads the development of Australia’s innovation strategy, has commercialised technologies in her own companies and is a mentor, and advisor for deep tech start-ups. She is passionate about the importance of innovation in engineering and science and supporting entrepreneurs in developing and bringing their ideas to market.
Theme description: This mentoring meeting will be an interactive session, designed for early and mid-career engineers who are seeking to commercialise a discovery or innovation and are seeking guidance or support in developing their ideas into a commercial product, application or service. Participants will gain an understanding of the value of intellectual property that is at the heart of a successful innovative business, and explore the importance of protecting ideas and innovation, the various ways this can be achieved, and how to negotiate and navigate the barriers that may arise.
