Research programmes
Support for research: find out more about the Academy's programme of grants and prizes that support and celebrate the pursuit of engineering activities. Supporting engineers on their journey from early career researchers, to research into emerging technologies and enabling closer links between academia and industry and much more.
Policy and Research & Innovation
Find out about our policy work on how the UK should harness science and technology to achieve strategic advantage. We will also showcase our policy work on resilience and exploring what challenges and opportunities exist for the Academy to support our national resilience.
Queen Elizabeth Prize
The annual £500,000 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering (QEPrize) is the world’s most distinguished engineering accolade and, in 2023, was awarded to Professor Martin Green and his team for PERC solar photovoltaic technology.
We invite RAEng Fellows to nominate a groundbreaking engineering innovation of global benefit to humanity for the 2024 QEPrize. Help us to identify the most incredible, yet often uncelebrated, achievements of engineering.
Public Engagement (TiE/Ingenious/Ingenia)
The Academy offers a range of public engagement initiatives, from the Ingenious Public Engagement Awards, Ingenia magazine and This Is Engineering campaign. We invite fellows to join the Ingenious judging panel, Ingenia editorial board and the External Affairs Committee, which oversees all aspects of the Academy’s communications.
From our talented Fellowship of over 1,500 leading engineers, our network of Academy-funded researchers and entrepreneurs around the UK, and our award winners around the globe, the Media and Engagement team can offer spokespeople and case studies from the full range of engineering disciplines.
Enterprise Hub (+LiF/MacRobert Award)
Supporting entrepreneurs and business leaders in the UK and globally to transform their breakthrough engineering and scientific innovations into disruptive spinouts, startups and scale ups is at the heart of what the Enterprise Directorate does.
Discover more about the impact we deliver across the globe and how we celebrate innovators at home with the MacRobert Award, the UK’s longest running and most prestigious prize for engineering innovation. The exhibition will include a demonstration by last year’s MacRobert Award winner - Quanta Dialysis Technologies - of their compact and portable kidney dialysis machine.
International
From climate change action to engineering innovation, safety and sustainability, our international programmes cover a rich range of initiatives with the shared mission of building global engineering networks, research and capacity to advance resilient, inclusive and sustainable societies. Spanning across Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe, we work in partnership with engineers, entrepreneurs, academia, students and engineering institutions to share best practice, explore new technologies, enhance curricula and train the next generation of engineers to create impact where it’s most needed.
