The aim of our resources is to inspire the next generation of engineers by showcasing how STEM skills can positively impact society.
Inspired by the 2012 Paralympic Games, Winning Medals explores how science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) can enhance the performance of sports wheelchairs and the athletes who use them.
Students investigate key engineering concepts such as torque, track and turning movements, applying these principles to improve wheelchair acceleration, control and efficiency.
Through hands-on activities, learners gain insights into the role of STEM in adaptive sports, while developing problem-solving skills and fostering a deeper understanding of inclusive engineering design.
This resource includes a teacher guide and student booklet.
