Terry Spall's role in establishing the MIRA Technology Park helped create a centre of excellence for automotive R&D with 1,500 jobs associated. It has achieved global recognition and is a major asset and enabler for the development of future automotive technologies in the UK's automobile industry. He played a key role in securing substantial overseas investment, which was recognised with MIRA Technology Park receiving a Queen’s Award for Enterprise. He was also a Co-Founder of the Formula Student AI competition, which has helped industry to create the skillsets to advance driverless car technologies. As 135th President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, he led the implementation of a major governance review, creating a firm foundation for the institution to launch its new strategic plans to reposition it to support future generations of engineers.
