Professor Daniel Alexander FREng
Professor of Imaging Science, Department of Computer Science, UCL; Co-Founder of Queen Square Analytics
Professor Daniel Alexander is a computer scientist who develops computational techniques for impact in medicine often using imaging. He has pioneered techniques for mapping brain connectivity, thereby helping neurosurgeons reduce residual damage after interventions; non-invasive imaging techniques that map microscopic tissue features such as cell size and density, helping avoid invasive biopsy and histopathology, and algorithms that unravel the heterogeneous landscape of chronic diseases to reveal decades-long trajectories of change and distinct disease subtypes that guide optimal treatment choices. He has led the development and release of several well-known international open-source neuro-imaging toolkits and translated algorithms to clinical practice.
