Dr Kinam Kim serves as Chairman of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology(SAIT) in Samsung Electronics. Prior to the current role as Chairman since December 2021, Dr Kim served as CEO and Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics and Head of Samsung Electronics Device Solutions Division, overseeing global semiconductor businesses, operations and research & engineering for Memory, System LSI and Foundry businesses. He is globally recognized as a semiconductor world leader with over 40 years' industry experience, spearheading relentless innovation in research & engineering and driving new businesses for continued industry growth for the future. Many of the world’s first technologies developed under his leadership started from bold bets and humble beginnings that were often considered by others not feasible. His contributions and legacy in semiconductor over the past decades have catalyzed South Korea’s rapid economic growth to be world’s 10th largest economy, and also South Korea’s status as a global technology powerhouse. Most importantly, his many innovations with the “Never Give up!” motto that he still lives by to this date have greatly contributed to building a foundation for a better world for many generations to come.
