Dick Elsy has led major programmes that have helped to define the UK car industry. These include the Land Rover Discovery, the Freelander and the aluminium architecture ubiquitous on all Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.

He has delivered novel technology in large companies and in an SME and is now ploughing this experience back for national benefit through his leadership of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult. This has become an internationally recognised centre for advanced manufacturing technology underpinned with over £800M of government funding, an unprecedented sum which he secured. Trusted to deliver innovation for the nation he serves on 9 prominent research and industrial bodies and, most recently, has led the Ventilator Challenge UK consortium.
