A.A. Griffith Chair of Structural Materials and Mechanics and Dean of the School of Engineering, University of Liverpool

Professor Patterson is internationally renowned for the development of photo- and thermo-elastic stress analysis for advanced manufacturing industrial clients such as BAE and Rolls-Royce.

He is an expert in the use of composite materials in vehicles and has led major Schools of Mechanical Engineering in the UK and the USA.
