Dr Mark Buswell is a key industry proponent of modernising pharmaceutical manufacturing to lower cost, enhance reliability, improve quality and reduce environmental impact. He has led a programme at GSK to transform medicines manufacturing through process innovation and intensification.

He has promoted convergent research between life sciences, physical sciences, engineering and medicine by co-leading the creation of the Engineered Medicines Laboratory at Imperial College London.

He played a key role in establishing the Medicines Manufacturing Industrial Partnership that represents UK medicines manufacturing and advises UK government on how to strengthen and grow this important manufacturing sector.
