Professor Christopher Atkin FREng

Professor Chris Atkin has made an outstanding contribution to the aerodynamics of flow-control technology through his work at BAE Systems, the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency, QinetiQ and City, University of London.

Professor Atkin pioneered the use of advanced mathematical and physical modelling to develop and demonstrate novel design concepts for Hybrid Laminar Flow Control on transport aircraft.

His pioneering ideas have been adopted widely across the UK aerospace engineering community. He is a Past President of the Royal Aeronautical Society and is presently serving as Chairman of the Engineering Council.
