Election to Honorary Fellowship is reserved for those who the Academy considers to have made exceptionally distinguished contributions to engineering, but who may not themselves be practising engineers or engineers qualified for election as Fellow.
If elected, they will use the designatory letters HonFREng (Honorary Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering).
Honorary Fellowship nominations take the form of a letter to the President, signed by the proposing Academy Fellow, which will provide an account of why the candidate should be considered and what they may have to offer the Academy. Nominations for Honorary Fellowship are assessed by the Nominations Committee at it first meeting of the calendar year, usually around February-March.
Nominations for 2024 election should be submitted by Friday 26 January 2024 and sent to [email protected].
