Dr Giuliano Punzo
Dr Punzo is an aerospace engineer by training but, after a brief time in the space industry, he developed his interests in the broader area of control theory and complex systems.
His current research aims at understanding complex dynamics at the interface between social and technical systems. These include the use of public services such as transportation or water systems, how these impact the demographic and the resilience of both the infrastructure and the community they serve.
Dr Punzo's research uses and develops theoretical tools in the area of networks, control theory, games and decision making, and complexity. He was supported by the Academy’s Engineering X Safer Complex Systems scheme to create a case study examining cyber-physical system shortfalls in the 2011 Brisbane flood.
